Vintage Metal Airway Luggage in Black by E.J. Gausepohl Luggage Shop (c.1900s)

This hard-to-find, seriously cool Airway black metal luggage piece makes a perfect addition to any collection, and it looks great displayed in any decor!

This piece was made in the early 1900s by E.J. Gausepohl Luggage Shop in Indianapolis. E.J. Gausepohl was a very well-known manufacturer of metal and leather luggage.

The black metal case features a leather handle and metal corner and edge protectors. The Airway logo decal is still on the case. Very distinctive!

Use this case in a shop or studio to store supplies. It would also look great in a family room, use it to store throw blankets when not in use. Place the case on a table in your entry way and keep it open to hold your keys, mail, or even hats and gloves (closes to hide the contents when company comes)!

ITEM CONDITION
This antique metal Airway luggage is in excellent vintage condition. The metal is a lightweight, easy-to-carry metal that is coated in a vulcanized fibre that was often used to surface steamer trunks (vulcanized fibre is a laminated plastic composed of cellulose that was patented in 1856). The handle is very strong and secure. The leather corner protectors are worn from use, but still firmly attached.The latches on the front of the case open and close with ease. The hinge is strong and secure. There are no major dents or dings in the metal, just scrapes and scratches from years of use. The bottom of the case has slight "waves" in the metal, as shown.
