A blast from the past!

Use the tin to store craft supplies, tools, and other miscellaneous items. You could even clean the tin out thoroughly, line it with a clear bag and use it to hold snacks at your next barbecue!

From the tin:

"Healthful Food... on the Alkaline Side. Made from carefully selected potatoes processed in hydrogenated vegetable shortening, with salt added."

"Science Says... The aklaline side is the healthy side. NEW ERA Potato Chips are partially starch dextrinized and therefore more readily digested... Chemical analysis have proved NEW ERA Potato Chips to be a highly concentrated energy producing food, 95% digestible and of greater alkalinity than even fresh raw potatoes. Feast without fear."

"To insure whole, unbroken chips, exactly as packed in our factory, the manufacturers of NEW ERA Potato Chips have completely filled this can to prevent the possibility of breakage through shaking of contents. Rapid delivery by specially constructed spring cushioned base supply trucks assures the NEW ERA Potato Chips in the very best possible condition. You don't have to see them to know they are good!"

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I have one of these tins but can not find any information on the company that produced the product. The Frito Co "New Era Division " is not part of the Fritos-Lays history. Any suggestions ?

Hi John - thank you for your note.

These potato chips were originally produced in the 1950s by Nicolay - Dancey out of Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. Frito Lay bought out Nicolay - Dancey. If you do a search for Nicolay - Dancey, you can find a lot more information about this brand. I did find a blog that talks about this brand at https://huffygirl.wordpress.com/2012/09/07/when-potato-chips-were-health-food/ and more about the founders of Nicolay - Dancey at https://www.the-daily-record.com/article/20140112/news/301129603

    I hope this information helps!

    Cheers!
