A man from Missouri...

We think every face tells a story. What was this man's story?
Every small town has a house that is haunted. This is Gideon, a ghost of a mean and unforgiving man who died a sudden and unexpected death in his own home, of which he still haunts today. In life, he was married and had no children. He had a small white dog named Janie - who he loved more than his wife. He never wanted anyone to come into his yard, so he erected a wire fence that had sharp barbs on the top to prevent the neighbor kids from climbing over it. He lived like a hermit, never talking with his neighbors or the people in town. He made it very clear that he didn't like anyone, and in return, no one liked him. While his wife was away, the neighbors noticed a strong smell coming from his house and called the sheriff. His body was discovered in his bedroom, with his dog trapped inside. The dog went on to live with relatives, but Gideon remained in his house and scared away anyone who dared enter.
What do you think his story was?
